Brichgunj, Port Blair, Andaman and Nicobar Islands

Who We Are

Immediately on arrival at the Islands, a nursery school was established in 1991 to cater for educational needs and career aspirations of wards of personnel residing at Brichgunj Military Station. Initially the school was operational from a temporary family accomodation.

In the year 1994, there was an expansion and two more sections were added to LKG and UKG each . In the year 1998 Class I & II were added. The school was registered with Directorate of Education Andaman & Nicobar in the year on 16 April,1999.

Slowly but steadily, the school grew into a primary school and was housed in a temporary building. The long standing requirement of a permanent abode for the school fructified when Brigadier Jasjit Singh inaugurated the site for new Army Primary School building on 12 May 2004. After a long wait of 16 years, Army Primary School embraced its permanent abode when the CINCAN and president DWWA inaugurated the present building of APS on 26 Apr 2006. On 1 Jul 2015 it gained the status of Army Public School.
